ZED Process

  • Desktop assessment
  • On receipt of approval from QCI, IRCLASS shall carryout the desktop assessment as per QCI requirement and report submitted to QCI.
  • Process for Onsite assessment:
    Nominated MSME by QCI to IRCLASS, after that IRCLASS shall carryout the onsite assessment as given below:-
  • Assessment Team Selection.
    IRCLASS shall assign the qualified ZED Assessor taking into account the defined requirements of team competence, criteria and type / scope of MSME from the ZED assessor database maintained on ISSPL system.

    If no ZED Assessor are qualified for the defined competence to the type / scope of MSME client organization, then from the data base a qualified Technical Expert for the type / sector of MSME shall be included in the team

    The onsite assessment shall be conducted with minimum two qualified ZED assessor with or without expert based on the team competency.
  • 4.2.4 On-site assessment time.
    The on-site assessment shall be carried out as given below:-
    Micro type enterprise – Minimum 3 man-days
    Small type enterprise - Minimum 4 man-days
    Medium type enterprise - Minimum 5 man-days.

    Note:- One man-day is 8 hrs per day.
    Man-days include the time spent onsite at the organizations location, assessment planning document reviewing and reporting.
  • 4.2.5 Opening meeting:
    A formal opening meeting shall be held with client organization management, those personnel responsible for the functions or processes to be assessed.
    Attendance shall be recorded.
    Objective of opening meeting is providing a short explanation of how the assessment activities will be undertaken.
    During the opening meeting, the Team leader shall collect information on the situation and on changes concerning MSME, equipment, raw materials, processes and anything else relevant.
    Onsite assessment will be based on specific ZED certification requirements and in accordance with check list provided by QCI.
    The assessment team shall periodically check assessment progress and exchange information. The assessment team leader shall re-assign work as needed between the assessment team members and
    periodically communicate the progress of the assessment and any concerns to the MSME , client organization.

    During conduct of onsite assessment the assessor shall collect and verify evidence related to performance of various processes/activities of the organization as per ZED certification module / parameter which includes as a minimum:
    — Operational control;
    — Monitoring measurement and analysis

    Assessment evidences shall be based on the information relevant to the assessment objectives, scope and criteria (including information relating to interfaces between functions, activities and processes) obtained and verified.

    Methodology of obtaining information shall include, but are not limited to:
    — interviews
    — observation of processes and activities
    — review of documentation and records

    Client organization shall brief & make aware the ZED assessment team about the Safety rules and emergency procedures required to be followed by the ZED assessors throughout the assessment period on and offsite.
    Wherever, as applicable shall provide the assessment with relevant PPE’s during and at site under the control of organization.
  • 4.2.6 Closing meeting:
    A formal closing meeting shall be held with the MSME’s client organization management and those responsible for the functions or processes assessed.
    The closing meeting shall usually be conducted by the assessment team leader.
    Objective purpose of closing is to present the assessment conclusions.
    Attendance shall be recorded
  • 4.2.7 Site Assessment Report:-
    ISSPL shall provide a system generated report for onsite assessment to QCI.
    Ownership of the assessment report shall be retained by IRCLASS.
    In case of any clarification on report, IRCLASS shall provide necessary information as required by Rating Committee.
  • 4.2.8 Certification Decision by Rating Committee (RC)
    The submitted report shall be reviewed for decision on certification by Rating Committee of QCI, if found suitable.
