Course Overview
Acquire knowledge and skills required to perform third-party audits of ISO 22301. This acquired skill may also be utilized for first and second-party audits.
Students who successfully complete this course will satisfy the training requirements for initial Registration as CQI-IRCA BCMS Provisional auditor.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, delegates will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of a Business Continuity Management Systems, of Business Continuity Management System standards, of management system audit, of third-party certification, and the business benefits of improved performance of the Business Continuity Management Systems.
- Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up a Business Continuity Management Systems audit in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021, as appropriate.
- Plan, conduct, report and follow-up an audit of a Business Continuity Management Systems to establish conformity (or otherwise) with ISO 22301, and in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021 where appropriate.
- Manage the duties of a lead auditor in their organization or for a third-party

Pre-requisites
Please note that CQI-IRCA recommends that learners have knowledge of the requirements of ISO 22301:2019 before they start this course. This course teaches auditing principles using ISO 22301, therefore a basic knowledge of ISO 22301 and its application within a related organization is strongly recommended, together with internal audit experience.
Before attending this course, delegates are expected to have knowledge of the following business continuity management principles and concepts:
- The purpose and benefits of a Business Continuity Management System
- Basic knowledge of managing BCMS through Risk & opportunities
- Basic awareness of common examples of relevant national and local BCMS related to legal requirements.
- Commonly used BCMS terms and definitions as given in ISO 22301:2019
- Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 22301:2019
