ISSPL and GlobalLogic completed the first cybersecurity audit for AMTC's electric bus fleet!

MUMBAI, INDIA — IRCLASS Systems and Solutions Ltd. (ISSPL), alongside its strategic alliance partner GlobalLogic (a Hitachi Group company), today announced the successful completion of the first batch of cybersecurity audits for the new Electric Vehicle (EV) bus fleet deployed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Corporation (AMTC).

The newly secured EV fleet was recently inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, underscoring the state's dedication to advancing secure, technology-enabled and sustainable public transportation.

As public mobility becomes increasingly software-driven, the engagement was undertaken to enhance the cybersecurity posture and operational resilience of AMTC’s connected, BRT-compatible Midi AC Electric ITS-enabled buses. By proactively identifying and mitigating cyber risks across operational, financial and safety-critical functions, this joint initiative significantly reduces the risk of potential data breaches and system disruptions.

These modern buses are deeply integrated with an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) that incorporates GPS-based Automatic Vehicle Location Systems (AVLS), Passenger Information Systems (PIS), CCTV surveillance and automated run-kilometer calculations for operator payments. Given this complex integration between vehicle systems and backend platforms, a structured cybersecurity assessment was critical to identifying vulnerabilities and recommending timely remediation measures.

The comprehensive evaluation executed during the engagement covered mission-critical components, including:

• In-vehicle networks and firmware components
• CCTV and mobile NVR (mNVR) devices
• ITS modules, PIS and LED display systems
• Panic button mechanisms and RPAS components
• APIs, web portals and associated data storage infrastructure

To ensure the highest level of security, structured Gray-box penetration testing methodologies were employed. These tests were fully aligned with the cybersecurity engineering and validation principles of ISO/SAE 21434, relevant cybersecurity requirements referenced under AIS-189 and the rigorous threat scenarios outlined in UN R155 Annex 5.

Shashi Nath Mishra, Chief Operating Officer at ISSPL, emphasized the vital nature of this initiative: "In connected mobility programs of this scale, assurance cannot be limited to mechanical performance alone.
